Building Relationships…One Beach Trip at a Time.

by admin

Summer has brought about so many changes and opportunities for Covenant; opportunities to grow, teach, and learn.

This affords us opportunities to remember how deep our roots run. We are so blessed to be reminded of why we are here…to bring hope and love, to foster healing and restoration, and transform generations. Working on a daily basis with broken and hurting people can be exhausting, and emotionally demanding. Sometimes it is so easy to overlook the small day-to-day victories that happen right in front of us, in the very lives of those we serve.

So, we are making it a point to seek out those victories, and celebrate them!

In our efforts to recognize our young adults’ achievements and make great memories with them, we conjured up the idea to take three of our participants on an overnight getaway to Disneyland and Huntington Beach. Those two days were overflowing with laughter and joy while we watched our participants experience new things, make deep connections with each other, and share meaningful moments with us.

These three youth have exemplified integrity, determination, and outstanding endurance through some of life’s more challenging moments. Words cannot even begin to describe how rewarding it was to spend quality time with these amazing people.

This trip shed a lot of light on how much our youth just need to have a good time with people who care.  Some of our young adults have never even traveled outside of Kern County, and our goal is to connect with more of our youth and build community. To kick off the journey to reaching this goal, our team is planning a one day trip to Avila Beach on August 22nd with a new group of participants who have yet to be connected.

But we can’t do this alone. We need help paying for food and activities for these guys and gals! Every little bit helps, and the more money we raise, the more youth we can take along for the ride!
