The Grand Opening Weekend of the Shafter Covenant Coffee at the Ford Theater was an amazing event. The festivities began Saturday, September 10th at 1101 E. Lerdo Hwy in Shafter, California. The schedule of events included the Shafter Junior High Band, the High School Pep Band, a duet by Larry Starrh and Loren Barton, and the evening concluded with a performance by the Shafter Jazz Combo!

The Shafter Coffee House, a second location of Covenant Coffee, is staffed and managed by former foster youth. The youth have gone through extensive pre-service and on-the-job training in food service and barista skills.

The team from Covenant worked hard to give customers an excellent coffee experience at this great location.  Many locals and Bakersfield folk  came out to enjoy a tour of the facility and much more.

The Grand Opening was a great method to share the craftsmanship and quality that the Starrh Family put into the project. It is truly a display of passion, excellence, and generosity.

What is Up with Covenant?

Covenant Coffee is about transformation. We utilize the coffee industry to influence lives through employment, training, and mentoring. Our mission is providing hope and love to restore lives and transform generations. We do this by providing “hope in a cup”.

What is “hope in a cup”? It is the knowledge that your purchasing dollar isn’t going to a corporation or a stock ticker but to former foster youth in your community. When you buy a scone, a cup of coffee, a sandwich, or a bag of coffee you are giving hope in a cup! You are choosing to invest in the lives of former foster youth!

Together, we are making a difference in our community and world!

Covenant Coffee = Great Coffee … Great Cause
