HQ of Hope moving forward!

by admin

The HQ of Hope is making nice progress toward completion. The site at 1700 N Chester Avenue in Bakersfield, California is now the home, or headquarters, of Covenant Community Services and all of our programs and services for foster children and former foster youth.

CHOICES Group class on education opportunities

Although we moved in on August 1, 2011, it has been slow going these past months as we await design, drawings and specifications from contractors and the architect. Nonetheless, the place is starting to feel like home and we have held quite a few meetings, groups and are now roasting coffee on-site! These are exciting times for our team as folks from the community stop by to check progress, get involved and spread hope!

Last week, we were able to move the coffee roasting operation from Edison Highway to the HQ of Hope. This transition will move our coffee operations from off-site to one location where coffee is not only produced but prepared. On any given day you can stop by the HQ of Hope and find Covenant Coffee and our talented staff of former foster youth roasting, brewing, packaging and selling coffee made right on-site! Pretty cool!

To help us complete the construction and build out of the coffee-house, offices, landscape and outdoor areas, Covenant is looking for financial help from the community. Specifically, we are looking for large and small donors to give so we can complete the project before the first of the year (2012). To complete the project we need $160,000.00. We have $70,000.00 and need to raise $90,000.00. To accomplish this goal we are launching the HQ of Hope “Hands of Hope” campaign #2!

During the “HQ of Hope ~ Hands of Hope Campaign #2” we are seeking 20 donors to commit $5,000.00. Our target is foundations, families and local businesses. As stated in the last campaign, “it’s not a lot of money to a lot of people” is still our song. Meaning, if many people become involved it is not a lot of money to raise. Thus, altough we are looking for large donors we admit that 1,000 small donors ($100 or less) can get the task completed! So, please consider giving toward hope today!

Please consider becoming a part of this movement. We need your help. We need your contacts and referrals. Help us get the message of hope and the work of Covenant out to the community.
